Weather Update: The rainy season has returned in full swing, and in many parts of Maharashtra, the clouds are now ready to not only rain but also leave an impact on the ground. The latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has further increased the concern of the people, especially in those areas which are hilly and coastal.
Weather Update: Threat of heavy rain in Pune, Satara and Nashik
The Meteorological Department has made it clear that very heavy rains may occur in districts like Pune, Satara and Nashik on July 26. The nature of rain in these districts will be much more than normal, which can affect life. A special alert has been issued in the ghat areas of Pune as there is a possibility of excessive rainfall there.
Red alert in Palghar, schools and colleges closed
The most worrying area has become the Palghar district, where a red alert has been declared. District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar has declared a holiday in all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres on July 26 as a precautionary measure. The next 24 hours can be challenging for this district as heavy rains have been warned here.
Orange alert in Mumbai, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg
An orange alert has been issued for major districts of the Konkan region like Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. This means that heavy to very heavy rains may occur at isolated places here. Ghat areas of Nashik and Satara are also in the grip of this warning.
Strong winds with thunderstorms in Marathwada
According to the Mumbai-based Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), heavy rains with thunderstorms may occur in some parts of Marathwada. Winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph here, which may make the situation more severe.
Pressure moving towards Odisha and Jharkhand
According to the Meteorological Department, the deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal is now moving towards North Odisha and Jharkhand, due to which rain may continue in these states for the next few days. Heavy rain warnings have been issued in West Bengal districts Bankura, West Medinipur and Purulia till Saturday morning.
Kolkata and its surrounding areas are likely to receive intermittent rains for the next six days, due to which common people need to remain alert.
