According to the IMD warning, states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Gujarat region, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mahe, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, North Interior Karnataka, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Uttarakhand and Vidarbha are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning along with heavy rains from July 25 to the next few days.
The monsoon has already become fully active in these states and heavy to very heavy rainfall is occurring in many areas. According to weather experts, this monsoon activity has increased further due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, which will continue further.
Himachal Devastation: 137 deaths and 274 roads closed
The situation in Himachal Pradesh has become very worrying. According to the IMD report, so far 137 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents. The worst affected districts include Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur and Sirmaur, where more than 274 roads have been closed due to landslides and floods. Cloudbursts and flash floods have severely damaged roads, bridges and houses in the state, badly disrupting life.
Weather Update: Trouble due to rain in Delhi-NCR too
After heavy rains in the capital Delhi and NCR areas on Tuesday, waterlogging and long traffic jams were seen on the roads. Although the rain activity has reduced a bit in the last few days, the Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of rain again once or twice over the weekend. Due to this, people have been advised to remain alert and stay in safe places.
High alert in other states of North India too
Heavy rains are also expected in the coastal areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. Strong winds can blow at a speed of 40-50 kmph in these states, along with thunderstorms and lightning, due to which there is a possibility of loss of life.
