Red alert in Telangana, threat of heavy rain looms
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Telangana from July 23 to July 28. This means that very heavy rains are likely in some areas of the state. People have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and follow the warnings of the local administration.
Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR from today
Heavy rain has started in the capital Delhi and its adjoining areas like Noida, Ghaziabad, from today. Just as the light rain on Monday gave relief, light to moderate rain is expected to continue this week as well. With the fall in temperature and coolness in weather, Delhiites will get some relief.
Rain will continue in South India as well
A warning of heavy rain and strong winds has been issued in many parts of South India. Heavy rains may occur, especially in Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and coastal Andhra Pradesh between July 23 and 28. Along with this, sea winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour in the southern peninsula, due to which people need to be cautious.
Weather Update: The weather may also deteriorate in West India
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains have been predicted in Konkan and Goa, ghat areas of central Maharashtra, Marathwada and some areas of Gujarat from July 23 to 28. Along with rain, slippery and flood-like conditions may also arise.
Continuous rain is likely in central and eastern India
Heavy rains may continue for the next few days in the areas of Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. There is a danger of lightning and floods along with rain in these areas. People living in rural areas should be especially cautious.
Weather Update: Alarm bells in North-West India, too
IMD has also issued an orange alert in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. There is a possibility of heavy rain and stormy winds in these areas for the next few days. Landslides can occur, especially in hilly areas.
Thunderstorms and heavy rains in Northeast India
There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura for the next week. The Meteorological Department has warned about incidents of lightning in these areas, so local people should be cautious and avoid going out in the open.
