Flood-like situation in many states, loss of life and property
Due to rain, a flood-like situation has arisen in many states of the country. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Gujarat and some parts of Karnataka are the most affected at this time. The situation is especially serious in Himachal Pradesh. Incidents of cloudburst and landslides are being reported there continuously. So far, more than 105 people have lost their lives in the state.
Weather Update: Warning of landslides and cloudbursts in hilly areas
The administration has issued an alert regarding landslides and cloudbursts in the hilly areas of North India and North-East India. Those traveling in these areas have been advised to take special precautions. On the other hand, there is a possibility of rising water level of rivers in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Goa and Gujarat.
Rainfall many times more than normal in some states
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, rainfall has been much more than normal in some states. Between June 1 and July 16, an average of 331.9 mm of rain has been recorded across the country, while the normal rainfall figure is 304.2 mm. That is, so far the country has received 9% more rainfall than normal.
Weather Update: Rain breaks records in Jharkhand and Rajasthan
Jharkhand is at the forefront in terms of rain this season. So far 595.8 mm of rain has occurred here, while the normal amount is only 348.9 mm. That is, 71% more rainfall than normal has been recorded in Jharkhand. The situation is similar in Rajasthan as well. So far 271.9 mm of rain has occurred there, which is 116% more than normal (125.6 mm).
