Monsoon reached Himachal on June 20 itself, and since then, the state has suffered a loss of more than Rs 500 crore. The Meteorological Department has issued a “Red Alert” in Kangra, Sirmaur and Mandi, while there is an “Orange Alert” in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Solan, Shimla and Kullu. Many houses have come under threat due to the landslide in the Kusumpti ward of Shimla on Friday.

The situation is also serious in Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh

Two Air Force personnel have lost their lives due to drowning in a lake in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. In Madhya Pradesh, too, heavy rains have affected life in more than 27 districts. A red alert has been issued for Mandla, Seoni and Balaghat districts. Landslides have halted traffic on the highway connecting Jabalpur and Mandla.

Weather Updates: Light rainis  likely in Delhi today

The national capital Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.9 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning and the humidity level was 80 percent. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain today and Sunday. The maximum temperature may reach 36 degrees Celsius. Delhi’s air is in “satisfactory” condition and AQI has been recorded at 82.

Monsoon arrived before time, impact across North India

This year, the monsoon knocked in North India in the last week of June instead of July 8. Heavy rains have been recorded in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal, UP and Delhi. Apart from this, the effect of rain is also being seen in Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Northeast states.
