Weather Update: The rainy season always brings comfort and freshness, but when this rain takes a terrible form, life comes to a standstill. Because the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert regarding heavy rains today, 11 July 2025.

According to the latest report of the Indian Meteorological Department, torrential rains are forecast in many parts of North-West India (such as Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal). At the same time, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and surrounding areas in Central India can also be hit by heavy rains. There is also a possibility of strong winds, thunder and lightning along with rain.

Weather Update: Rainfall from eastern India to western coastal areas

Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have also been issued in eastern India (such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal) and western India (Maharashtra, Gujarat etc.). According to the Meteorological Department, the next few days can be challenging for these areas. There is a danger of floods, especially in areas located on the banks of rivers.

Rain with thunderstorms in North-East and South India too

The IMD report states that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with lightning and thunder in North-East India (Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, etc.) and South India (Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu) as well. This weather can be a cause of concern for both farmers and travellers.

Take the warning of the Meteorological Department seriously. In areas where a red alert has been issued, people should avoid going out of the house. Avoid going to waterlogged areas and take special care of children and the elderly.
