The festive season has started, and in different states banks will remain closed on different days. If you plan to visit the bank, you must first check the RBI holiday list. The Reserve Bank of India issues the list in advance, mentioning the cities and states where banks will be closed. Today’s update is about October 3rd bank holiday, and it is important for customers to check before making any bank-related plans.

October 3rd Bank Holiday Update

Today, October 3rd, RBI has declared a bank holiday in one state. This state is Sikkim, where banks will remain closed due to the festival. In all other states, banks will continue their normal operations. So, if you are living in Sikkim and planning to visit the bank today, it is advised to postpone your work.

Reason for Holiday on October 3rd

The main reason behind the holiday on October 3rd in Sikkim is Durga Puja. Along with this, banks in Sikkim will also remain closed on October 4th on the same occasion. The festive month of October brings many important holidays, and customers are suggested to keep checking the list to avoid inconvenience.

Upcoming Bank Holidays in October

According to the RBI calendar, banks will remain closed on multiple dates this month. On October 5th, being a Sunday, banks across the country will remain closed. On October 6th, banks in Agartala and Kolkata will remain closed on account of Lakshmi Puja. Similarly, October 7th marks Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima, and banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, and Shimla.

Other Important Dates in October

Apart from these, there are many more holidays this month. On October 10th, banks in Shimla will remain closed for Karva Chauth. On October 11th, being the second Saturday, banks will not work across the country. October 18th will be a holiday in Guwahati due to Kati Bihu. October 20th is a major date when Diwali will be celebrated across several cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, and more.

Nationwide Closures Due to Festivals

October 21st and 22nd will also see widespread closures across cities for Diwali celebrations, Lakshmi Puja, and Govardhan Puja. October 23rd marks Bhai Dooj and Chitragupta Jayanti, when banks will remain closed in several states including Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Fourth Saturday and Sunday Closures

On October 25th, being the fourth Saturday, all banks across the country will remain closed. October 26th will be a Sunday holiday across India. These two consecutive days will lead to a weekend break in bank operations nationwide.

Chhath Puja Holiday in States

Towards the end of the month, banks in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi will remain closed on October 27th due to Chhath Puja evening rituals, and on October 28th for morning puja in Patna and Ranchi. Customers in these states should plan their bank visits accordingly.

Holiday on October 31st

On October 31st, banks in Ahmedabad will remain closed on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday. This marks the final holiday in the month of October as per RBI’s declared list.
