Gold prices are witnessing a continuous rise this festive season. As Dhanteras is celebrated nationwide on October 18th, people are showing strong interest in buying gold and silver. However, prices have been climbing sharply. On Saturday, gold set a new record of ₹1,32,953 per 10 grams for 24-carat gold. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,21,883 per 10 grams.

Trump Tariffs Impact Gold Prices

After US President Donald Trump announced that the 100% additional tax on China would not be sustainable, the global gold market saw a quick reaction. Gold prices fell by over 2% on October 17th. However, before Dhanteras, prices again surged as investor demand increased. On Friday, 24-carat gold reached ₹1,33,770 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold rose to ₹1,21,700 per 10 grams.

Gold Price Surge Before Dhanteras

On the day before Dhanteras, gold rates saw a strong upward movement. 18-carat gold increased by ₹2,500 per 10 grams, touching ₹99,580. The overall market sentiment turned bullish as festive demand and global cues combined to push rates higher. This trend suggests that the festive rush and international market tension are both influencing gold prices.

Latest Gold and Silver Prices on October 18th

According to the MCX Index, the 24-carat gold price at 8 am on October 18th stood at ₹1,27,320 per 10 grams. Silver prices were recorded at ₹1,57,300 per kilogram. Despite minor fluctuations during the day, both metals remained strong in the domestic market.

Delhi Gold Prices

In Delhi, the 24-carat gold price touched ₹1,32,953 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stood at ₹1,21,883 per 10 grams. The increase of ₹3,070 indicates strong local buying and festive demand. Delhi continues to be one of the most active markets for gold buying during Diwali and Dhanteras.

Chennai Gold Prices

In Chennai, 22-carat gold climbed by ₹3,000 to ₹1,22,031 per 10 grams. The price of 24-carat gold also went up by ₹3,270, reaching ₹1,33,121 per 10 grams. Southern cities like Chennai often see strong gold buying during the festive season, leading to quick price movements.

Mumbai Gold Prices

Mumbai recorded 24-carat gold at ₹1,32,807 per 10 grams and 22-carat gold at ₹1,21,737 per 10 grams, with an increase of ₹3,070. The rising demand in Mumbai has been consistent throughout October, driven by both investors and jewelry buyers ahead of Diwali celebrations.

Gold Prices in Other Cities

In Kolkata, 24-carat gold stood at ₹1,32,805 per 10 grams, and 22-carat gold reached ₹1,21,735 per 10 grams. Pune recorded 24-carat gold at ₹1,32,813 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was ₹1,21,743. In Bengaluru, the 24-carat gold price was ₹1,32,795 per 10 grams, and 22-carat gold was ₹1,21,725. Across cities, the steady increase signals strong consumer interest despite record highs.
