New Delhi: Social media platforms are not taking the name of Twitter’s troubles going down. Delhi Police has now filed an application in the court seeking action against Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and former Twitter India CEO Manish Maheshwari.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court seeking to make Twitter a party to a case. The matter pertains to child porn related content on Twitter. Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Twitter in the matter. The FIR also cited a complaint that described how the co-founder of a fact check website exploited a minor girl online. Delhi Police said in its application that when the account information was sought, Twitter did not even provide information about the account.
The entire matter pertains to a complaint by NCPCR in which Twitter was accused of misleading them. The NCPCR had argued that there are many links on Twitter related to children and the dark web. When summoned by Twitter officials in the matter, Twitter replied that Twitter India and Twitter Inc are two separate companies. It also said that Twitter does not control any of the content on the website.
