TATA Planning To Launch Tata Altroz CNG Tata Nexon CNG
Tata Motors has entered the CNG car market this year with the launch of its CNG Tiago and Tigor. Both the models have been a success as many buyers prefer a vehicle with low running cost due to higher fuel prices. Sensing the opportunity, Tata Motors is preparing to launch CNG versions of its other vehicles as well.
Tata Altroz CNG
The premium hatchback from Tata Motors already has 3 engine options. 1.2L petrol, 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. To further enhance its lineup, Tata Motors will soon introduce a CNG option in the Altroz. The 1.2-litre normal petrol engine is likely to get CNG factory fitment. The same engine is available in Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG. We can expect the Altroz CNG to generate 72PS of power and 95Nm of torque, similar to the Tiago and Tigor CNG.
The Altroz CNG is likely to get a 5-speed manual transmission. Its competitors like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20 are also expected to get CNG variants soon. We expect the Altroz CNG to go on sale around this festive season i.e. October 2022.
Tata Nexon CNG
Tata Nexon is the best selling product of Tata Motors. It gets the option of 1.2 liter turbo-petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engine. Several spy shots of Nexon running with Emisson testing kit have surfaced on the internet recently. This leads us to believe that this is the upcoming Nexon CNG. The Nexon CNG is likely to come with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine.
When launched, it could be one of the first CNG cars in India with a turbocharged engine. This will make the Nexon CNG one of the most powerful CNG cars in India. In its petrol avatar, the Nexon churns out 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. The CNG variant will definitely see a drop in power and torque. When launched, the Nexon CNG will take on the upcoming Maruti Brezza CNG and the Kia Sonet 1.0L Turbo CNG. We expect the Nexon CNG to be available for sale in India by the end of this year.
Tata Punch CNG
The Punch has been a very popular and successful product of Tata Motors due to its large SUV-like appearance. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre normal petrol engine that we see on the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. Equipped with CNG, this engine generates 72PS of power and 95Nm of torque in Tiago and Tigor CNG. We expect the Punch CNG to offer similar power and torque output. The initial launch of CNG will cater to the needs of buyers looking for a low-cost SUV-like vehicle. We expect Panch CNG to be launched in 2023.
