Mexico: Mexican baseball officials said two players had tested positive for COVID-19 just days before their arrival at Tokyo Village. The athletes, Hector Velázquez and Sammy Solis, who tested positive on 18 July, have been isolated for their better treatment, as all team members have results pending for COVID tests.

It was decided to immediately isolate both the players in their hotel rooms of the national team, as well as all the players and the coaching staff of the team till the medical laboratory conducts PCR tests. The Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) will be followed to protect the health of all members of the national baseball team participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The schedule could go awry as Mexico plays its first Olympic tournament against the Dominican Republic in Yokohama on July 30. Several dozen Olympic-related positive cases have been reported ever since athletes and officials began gathering in their respective countries for the Games or after arriving in Japan.
