New Delhi: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has made a big announcement saying that players of the state who won gold medals in Tokyo Olympic Games will be given Rs 6 crore as prize money. Rs 4 crore will be given to the silver medalist athlete and Rs 2 crore to the bronze medalist.

At the same time, if the players participating in the team event win the gold medal, then each player will be given three crore rupees. Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore will be provided for similar silver and bronze respectively. Actually this time 10 players from UP are participating in Tokyo Olympics. Yogi Adityanath has also congratulated all the players for their better performance. It has also been announced that Rs 10 lakh will be given by the state government to each athlete participating in the Olympics.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is also planning to postpone the National Awards by a few weeks in view of the Olympics. This is because the latter may include an Olympic medalist athlete. According to media reports, a source said, “The meeting of the concerned department has been held in this regard. We have got the nominations, but we want to keep it like this for a while so that the Olympic medalists can be included. A final decision in this regard is likely to be held soon.”
