Paddler Sharath Kamal on Sunday shared a video after reaching the Olympic Village where all the athletes are staying. Kamal shared a video of the athletes village and he captioned the post, “Good evening from the Athletes Village @ Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.” Ahead of leaving for Tokyo for the Olympics starting July 23, paddler Sharath Kamal on Saturday said it is the best table tennis contingent that India has sent to the Games.
“After a year’s wait with a lot of uncertainties, we are here going into the Tokyo Olympics. Hopefully, this is the best Olympic sport India has ever played. With regards to table tennis, it is the strongest team. Hopefully We come back with some medals,” Kamal told a reporting site. He continued, “On that particular day, if we are able to compete with our opponents, we have a fair chance. We had tough Olympic qualifications, we beat world No. 5 to qualify for the mixed double spot. . If we can keep this going, we can be there”
Elaborating on his form, Kamal said, “I have never been in such form to go to any Olympic Games. This is the best Olympics. As far as results and performances are concerned, the world 32 in, is my highest world rank with which I am going into the Olympics. So I am sure I will make some changes.” A total of 127 athletes from India are participating in the Tokyo Olympics. This is the highest ever figure for athletes in India’s Olympics. The 69 cumulative events across the 18 sporting disciplines that India participates in is also the highest ever for the country.
