Sports update: IPL gets new title sponsor

New Delhi: The world’s biggest cricket league Indian Premier League (IPL) has got a new title sponsor. Tata Group will be the title sponsor of IPL from 2022. That is, this tournament will now be known as ‘Tata IPL’. Tata has replaced the Chinese company Vivo. IPL chief Brijesh Patel has told the media that from 2022, Tata will replace Chinese company Vivo as the title sponsor of the IPL.

The IPL meeting was held today on Tuesday of the Governing Council to take many important decisions. In the same meeting, it has been decided to make Tata the title sponsor of the IPL by handing over a letter of intent to the CVC Group, which bought the Ahmedabad team. Vivo had bought the IPL title sponsorship rights in 2018. For this, the company had to pay Rs 440 crore to BCCI every year. This contract of Vivo was for the year 2022. Vivo also had to take a one-year break when protests broke out in the country over the India-China dispute last year.

Let us tell you that IPL 2022 is going to be very special in many ways. Because this time IPL’s mega auction is going to happen, as well as Vivo’s title sponsor will be last year. Not only this, the IPL will soon get a new media sponsor, as the IPL contract with Star will also expire by 2022.
