External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday, 2 September spoke to his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son and congratulated him on the 76th anniversary of the country’s National Day. Vietnam celebrates National Day on September 2 in memory of former President Ho Chi Minh reading the country’s declarations of independence in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.
Sharing a message via Twitter, the External Affairs Minister committed to enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. He wrote: “Congratulations to FM @FMBuiThanhSon and the Government and the people of Vietnam on their 76th anniversary of National Day. Committed to enriching our comprehensive strategic partnership.”
Later on Wednesday, Vietnam’s envoy to India, Pham San Chau, thanked New Delhi for providing oxygen and oxygen concentrators in time to save thousands of lives in Vietnam during the pandemic. Last week, the Vietnamese foreign minister thanked India for supplying 300 oxygen concentrators and 100 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen. Son tweeted, “Greatly appreciate the government and people of India’s gift for 300 oxygen concentrators and 100 metric tons of liquid medical oxygen. This is a true testament to the sound and strong Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
