The weather is once again taking a dramatic turn across the country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, several states are set to receive heavy rainfall in the coming days. While the southwest monsoon has already withdrawn from many regions, some parts are still likely to experience severe rain and thunderstorms. The upcoming days may bring a mix of relief and disruption as weather conditions worsen in different states.

Heavy Rain Predictions Across States

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for multiple states, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh are likely to face intense showers. In Odisha and Maharashtra, heavy rain is expected between October 12th and 14th. The IMD has also mentioned the possibility of strong winds during this period. Rain activity is expected to continue in various parts of northern and eastern India, creating challenging conditions for daily commuters and farmers.

Rain Conditions in Uttar Pradesh

The situation in Uttar Pradesh remains serious, with several districts placed under a heavy rain alert. Cities including Ballia, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hathras, and Kasganj are likely to experience rain. The IMD has also issued warnings for Sitapur, Bahraich, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Pilibhit. Apart from this, Aligarh, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Hapur, Amroha, Meerut, and Bijnor are expected to see strong thunderstorms along with rainfall.

Eastern India Braces for Downpour

Eastern states are also expected to witness moderate to heavy rain in the next few days. Odisha is forecasted to receive rainfall along with thunderstorms on October 12th. Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland are expected to experience wet weather as well. Rainfall may continue in Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until October 13th, impacting travel and outdoor activities in these northeastern regions.

South India May See Another Spell of Rain

The weather department has indicated that South India may once again experience a spell of rainfall. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh have all been placed under alert, with heavy showers expected through October 13th. This sudden change in weather could lead to waterlogging and affect normal life, especially in low-lying areas.

Thunderstorms in the Northeast

The northeastern region is expected to witness severe weather conditions over the coming days. Along with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are likely in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Sikkim. The IMD has warned people to stay alert and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall periods.

Monsoon Withdrawal and Impact

While the southwest monsoon has started withdrawing from several states, its effect is still being felt in many regions. The late withdrawal is bringing unseasonal rain, which might affect agricultural activities. Farmers are advised to take precautions to prevent damage to crops due to excessive moisture.

IMD’s Latest Advisory

The IMD has urged state administrations to remain alert and take preventive measures in flood-prone and hilly regions. The department has also advised residents to keep track of local weather updates and avoid waterlogged areas. The next few days will be crucial as the monsoon makes its last impact before a complete withdrawal.
