New Mercedes-Benz C Class Launch Date 10 May Car Will Get Three Variants In India
Germany’s luxury car company Mercedes-Benz is going to launch the fifth generation C-Class luxury sedan soon. The luxury sedan is set to be launched in the domestic market on May 10. Earlier, now the company has started its production. Mercedes-Benz has commenced production of the fifth generation C-Class luxury sedan at its Chakan plant in Pune.
Mercedes-Benz said in the statement that ‘there are 37,000 such cars currently running on the roads’. The C-Class model was first launched in India in 2001. This car is also affectionately called ‘Baby S’. The company informed that three variants of this model – C200, C200d and top-end C300d will be available.
According to reports, the new C-Class C200 could get a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which could be capable of generating 197hp power. At the same time, a 2.0-litre diesel engine can be found in the C300d, which can generate 245hp power. In addition to this, the C220d could be powered by a 2.0-litre engine that could generate 194hp power.
All powertrains are expected to be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Internationally, the C-Class has been equipped with mild-hybrid technology as standard. Hence, mild-hybrid can be given in the India-specific car as well.
In the last year i.e. 2021, the company’s sales in India have increased by 43 percent. The year 2020 was very bad, but after that the company’s sales jumped due to improvement in demand. The company is expecting double digit growth in its sales this year.
