Viral diseases are wreaking havoc in Lucknow during the season of change. According to reports, more than 400 patients including 40 children admitted in various government hospitals in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh are affected. According to the report of the OPD section, 20 percent of the patients have come with complaints of fever, cold and congestion.
While doctors attribute these cases to seasonal flu due to the changing weather, there is panic among patients who fear that this could be the start of the third wave of the COVID pandemic. Also, there are instructions in hospitals not to take patients to the OPD section without conducting a Kovid antigen test.
According to hospitals, the number of viral patients has increased by about 15 percent in the last one week. In the third week of August, the number of fever victims was about 5 percent. Hospitals like Balrampur Hospital, Civil Hospital and Lohia Institute have seen a surge in viral cases in the recent past. More than 300 patients have come to the OPD with complaints of fever. In Mahanagar Bhaurao Deoras, Rani Laxmibai, Lokbandhu, Ram Sagar Mishra and Community Health Centers, the number of fever victims is continuously increasing. In the Department of Pediatrics, 12 children suffering from fever have been admitted. Of these, seven are from Lucknow.
