New Delhi: According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Thursday, 31,923 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in India, including 282 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours. A total of 31,990 discharges were done in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to about 97.77 percent and the total recovery to 3,28,15,731. Ministry data indicates that the total active cases of COVID-19 in India has come down slightly to 3,01,640. The total death toll in the country now stands at 4,46,050. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in India crossed 83 crore on Wednesday, the Union Health Ministry said. Around 65 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 7 pm on Wednesday, it said, adding that the tally is expected to rise with the compilation of final reports for the day by late night.
Meanwhile, the southern state of Kerala on Wednesday reported 19,675 fresh COVID-19 cases and 142 deaths, taking the caseload to 45,59,628 and fatalities to 24,039. The number of people who have recovered from the infection since Tuesday stood at 19,702, which brings the total recoveries to 43,73,966 and the number of active cases to 1,61,026, an official press release said. In the last 24 hours, 1,19,594 samples were tested, the release said.
