Kia Can Bring CNG Car, Know How Long It Can Launch And Which Model
The cost of running a CNG car is very less as compared to petrol cars. Usually it was entry level cars like Alto, WagonR, Santro. Which were offered with CNG option. Mileage is a factor for most buyers in the entry level segment.
With the hike in petrol prices, CNG will soon be offered in cars that are well above the entry segment. Maruti launched the CNG Dzire earlier this year. After that they are planning to launch CNG with Baleno, Swift and upcoming 2022 Brezza.
Another sub 4m SUV that is getting ready for launch is the Sonet CNG. Some spy images of this have surfaced. The Sonnet test mule has appeared with the old Kia badge and a CNG sticker on the rear windshield. It also gets a CNG intake valve next to the petrol filling cap. There is also a badge on the C pillar which confirms that it is a CNG sonnet.
Badges GT and T-GDi are also visible in the spy photo. Could this mean that the Sonnet CNG will come with a 1.0-litre 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine and not a 1.2-litre aspirated motor. The Sonet 1.0 turbo petrol mated to a DCT gearbox delivers 118 bhp power and 172 Nm torque. The power and torque figures on the CNG Sonnet are expected to be lower. The Kia Sonet with CNG is likely to be launched by the end of this year.
The prices of Kia Sonet CNG are expected to be around Rs 70-90 thousand more than the respective petrol variants. The top of the line Sonnet CNG may touch the ex-showroom mark of Rs 13 lakh, which will be slightly lower than the top of the line Sonnet DCT automatic. It should also be noted that Kia’s sister, Hyundai is working on the Venue facelift. It is very likely that the CNG Venue will be launched along with its facelift variant later this year.
