Kawasaki recently announced that it will go fully electric in select global markets by 2035, and the renowned Japanese motorcycle maker has now suggested a hybrid sportsbike to begin its ambitious path to full range electrification Is.

Among other Japanese motorcycle manufacturers (Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki), Kawasaki has been the first to publicly announce its ambitions for electric cars of the future. Electric cars will be used to replace conventional fuel-powered combustion engines. The company is now developing its electrification strategy and has patented a hybrid sportsbike that combines a traditional ICE with a small electric motor.

For the record, hybrid technology has long been used in automobiles; However, motorcycle manufacturers have failed to adopt the technology because fuel saving was never considered a priority for bikes, which are already considered a cost-effective mode of transportation. At the same time, cramming a somewhat substantial self-charging battery into a tiny frame isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Kawasaki, on the other hand, has managed to pack down the battery by lowering the motor to accommodate the battery, which looks like a frame derived from the Kawasaki Ninja 400 Mule. Apart from the self-charging battery, Kawasaki has added a semi-automatic transmission to the bike, which the company is experimenting with with its pure-electric prototype Endeavor. While Kawasaki’s new hybrid technology doesn’t have zero emissions for an average use case, it can be driven in pure EV mode at low speeds.
