FASTag is an electronic toll collectible system in India, operated by the National Highways Authority of India. It works through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from prepaid or savings account. It is mounted on the windscreen of the vehicle and allows you to drive through toll plazas without cash transaction. FASTags were made mandatory for all private and commercial vehicles from January 15, 2020.

How to get SBI FASTag
Vehicle owners can contact customer care on 1800 11 0018 and the officials will inform them about their nearest POS location (tag issuer). SBI has around 3000 POS locations across the country, where customers can visit and buy FASTag.
SBI FASTag is available through tag issuers (POS locations and e-commerce websites). If it is linked to a prepaid account, you will need to recharge or top up the tag as required. However, if your tag is linked to your SBI bank account, you will not need to load money into the prepaid wallet separately.

How to recharge SBI FASTag using YONO app?
Login to YONO SBI App.
Click on YONO Pay.
Under Instant Payment, click on FASTag.
Customers will be given the option to recharge FASTag through UPI.
You will get an SMS alert on your registered phone number every time the balance is deducted from your SBI FASTag account.

Significantly, according to a report by State Bank of India, transactions through FASTag have increased by 53 percent annually. In February 2022, 24.364 crore transactions have taken place through FASTag, compared to Rs 15.896 crore in the same period a year ago.
