Honda To Planning Launch A New SUV For India Check Her Details

Honda, which has a strong presence in the sedan segment, is now focusing on the fast growing SUV market in the country with plans to launch SUV models next year. The company is currently in the process of developing this model. According to Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO, Honda Cars India

“We are recognizing the market movement (towards SUVs). This is a global phenomenon so we are definitely looking at it. We have a global presence in this segment. And we are considering what is best for India. We are planning an SUV model and plan to introduce it next year.”

Last year, the automaker confirmed that it is in the process of developing an exclusive SUV for India. Asked if the company would consider launching more than one SUV model in the market, he said: “We can’t reveal it right now, but of course we always think about future models… Seeing what needs to be done.” He added that while the company is focusing on expanding the SUV range, it will continue to enhance its sedan lineup as well.

The company’s upcoming SUV can be based on the HR-V model to be sold in its international market. The HR-V could also be a hybrid offered in India. The 1.5 liter petrol engine is available in the HRV hybrid sold in the international market. Which generates power and 109 bhp. This SUV also comes with seven naturally aspirated 1.5 liter capacity engine that generates 121 bhp power and 145 newton meter torque.

Honda used to sell its 3 SUVs in India earlier. This included CRV, BRV and W RV. The company had discontinued the CRV, BRV a long time back. Now the company sells only WR-V. The Honda WR-V currently sold in India is available in both diesel and petrol variants. Its ex-showroom price starts from Rs 8.88 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.07 lakh.
