New Delhi: Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of Arya Samaj, devoted his entire life to the cause of human welfare, the eradication of religious evils and the unity of the world. Remembering his work and dedication, people still take the name of ‘Maharishi Dayanand’ with great reverence. His invaluable contribution to world salvation is remembered even today. Today is his death anniversary.
Dayanand Saraswati was born on February 12, 1824 in Tankara, Gujarat. Whereas according to the Hindu calendar, the birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati is celebrated on the tenth day of Krishna Paksha of Falgun month. At the age of 21, Dayanand ji had left his motherland in search of spiritual and religious truth. From 1845 to 1869, his journey continued uninterrupted. During his 25 years of Vairagya Yatra, he also practiced Yoga among many divine activities.
Dayanand ji practiced different types of yogas under Shri Virajananda Dandesa. On April 7, 1875, he founded the Arya Samaj, whose aim was to unite the whole world. He advised Arya Samaj to follow 10 value principles. Swami Dayanand was a staunch opponent of idol worship and did not believe in the traditions and beliefs of the religion.
