Transport ministry in talks with a foreign company for Delhi-Jaipur electric highway: Gadkari


The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari has said that his ministry is in talks with foreign organizations to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur.

While reviewing the development works of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa, Rajasthan, Gadkari said that buses and trucks will also be run on electricity like electric railway engines. The Road Transport Minister on Thursday reviewed the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is expected to reduce the commute time between the national capital and the financial hub from about 24 hours to 12 hours.

“It is my dream to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur. It is still a proposed project. We are in discussions with a foreign company,” he said. He said that as a transport minister, he has resolved to end the use of petrol and diesel in the country.

The eight-lane expressway will cover Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
