New Delhi: The domestic stock market opened at a record high on Wednesday for the third consecutive day due to signals from global markets. Sensex crossed 57,780 and Nifty 17,190 in early trade today. Heavyweights Axis Bank, Reliance, L&T and ICICI Bank hit a record new high of 57,783.34 in early trade. Meanwhile, Nifty went beyond 17,190. Investors have gained more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the initial trade in the market.
On Tuesday, the market rose for the fourth consecutive day and the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at a record high of 57,552.39 points with a gain of 662.63 points, or 1.16 per cent. During trading, it had reached a high of 57,625.26 points. Just two days ago, the Sensex had reached close to the 56,000 to 57,000 mark. Nifty too rose 201.15 points or 1.19 per cent to hit an all-time high of 17,132.20. The record jumped 17,153.50 points during trading.
Investors have made a profit of more than Rs 1 lakh crore in the initial trade. The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE stood at Rs 2,50,02,084.01 crore on Tuesday, rising by Rs 1,44,518.23 crore to Rs 2,51,46,602.24 crore on Wednesday.
