Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has started “Shri Ramayana Yatra” by Deluxe AC Tourist Train to promote religious tourism. Railway has started this special tourist train to promote “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative of Government of India.
According to the railways, this journey will start from Delhi Safdarjung railway station on November 7 and will cover the journey to all the major places associated with the life of Lord Shri Ram in 17 days. This train was earlier operated with Sleeper class only, however, the proposed tour is being operated in Deluxe AC Tourist Train with many modern amenities and facilities. Ayodhya will be the first stop where tourists will visit Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple and Hanuman Mandir and also Bharat Mandir at Nandigram.
The next stop after Ayodhya will be Sitamarhi in Bihar, the birthplace of Sita and Ram-Janaki temple in Janakpur, Nepal. After Sitamarhi, the train will leave for Varanasi, and tourists will visit the temples of Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur and Chitrakoot by road. Night stay will be arranged in Varanasi, Prayag and Chitrakoot.
The next stop of the train will be Nashik, Hampi and Rameswaram will be the final destination of this train journey after which the train will return to Delhi on the 17th day of its journey.
