The benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 of the Indian stock market were trading at new record levels on Friday. While the BSE Sensex touched a historic high of 59,550 at around 11 am, the Nifty 50 touched 17,748.
Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Bank, Eicher Motors, Axis Bank were the top losers in the Nifty, while Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, UPL and ONGC were the only losers in the index.
All the indices were trading in the green except Nifty Media and Nifty Metal. Bank Nifty, which represents 12 of the most liquid and heavily capitalized stocks in the banking sector, crossed the crucial 38,000 mark.
Shares of Vodafone Idea continued to rise and closed at Rs 12.37, up 10 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange in intra-day trade on Friday. The stock has gained 39 per cent in the last two trading days after the government announced a relief package for the telecom sector.
