Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (MECL) is a premier mineral exploration agency under the aegis of Ministry of Mines, Government of India. The Government of India today signed an MoU with the Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG), Government of Goa, offering integrated mineral exploration and consultancy services, in New Delhi. With the signing of the agreement, the Mineral Exploration Corporation will conduct an array of geo-scientific explorations to assess the mineral resources and finalize the mineral blocks for auction and establish a state mineral inventory.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday signed the agreement with Union Minister of Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi. The MoU is seen as a step towards resumption of mining by the government through its own state-run corporation after the Supreme Court ruled that if mining is to resume, new leases will be allotted. which now includes auctions.

The signatories of the MoU were Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD, MECL and Mr. Vivek HP, Director, DMG, Goa. Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Parimal Rai, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa, Shri Satendra Singh, Joint Secretary, Govt. Government of India, Ministry of Mines and other senior officers of Govt. of India and Govt. Of Goa.
