Guwahati: Dibrugarh in eastern Assam has now joined Manipur’s capital Imphal with a new flight. IndiGo flight number 6E 7948 will connect Dibrugarh with Kolkata and Imphal every day. It will take around 1 hour 15 minutes to reach Imphal from Dibrugarh. An official said that under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), domestic flights have started from Monday.

Apart from Guwahati in Dibrugarh, there are already flights to Agartala (Tripura) and Dimapur (Nagaland). This is the third flight under RCS to start its operations from Dibrugarh. Airport director R Awasthi said the increase in the number of flights to various destinations is making Dibrugarh an aviation hub. Airport director R Awasthi said nine flights are currently operating from Dibrugarh airport, which handles 1,200 passengers daily. He added that once the restrictions are lifted, the airport will reach its pre-Covid level of air traffic growth.

37,154 new cases of corona have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 724 people have died due to the infection, while the recovery rate has increased to 97.22. There are currently 450,899 active cases in the country. The total number of corona cases in the country has increased to 3,08,74,376. Now the total number of cured cases has gone up to 3,00,14,713.
