SRINAGAR: Indian Railways officials today decided to completely restore train service between Banihal and Baramulla from July 14. Train service partially resumed on 1 July after a seven-week suspension, when two pairs of trains ran only between Bahinal to Budgam.
Train service between Budgam in central Kashmir and Baramulla in the north was partially restored from Wednesday, railway official Saqib Yusuf said. He said that only four trains (two in the morning and as many in the evening) would run on the track.
As per reports, the existing service starting from Banihal (04617 & 04619) has been extended to Baramulla, while train 04618 will start from Baramulla at 0800 hrs daily. An official said that an additional train 04620 will start from Baramulla at 1510 hrs and take the route 04622 Budgam at 1615 hrs. The authorities had suspended services on May 10 in view of the COVID-19 situation in the Kashmir Valley, before a partial resumption on July 1. The suspension was extended from time to time till June 30.
