New Delhi: With the increase in dearness allowance of central employees, there is another good news for them. After increasing his DA, the Modi government has also increased the House Rent Allowance (HRA). This will also increase HRA in August salary. As per the government order, the HRA was increased as the DA crossed the 25 per cent mark.

According to the order of the Ministry of Finance, central employees will now get 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent house rent allowance according to their city. These qualifications are in respect of X, Y and Z category cities. That is, the central employee residing in X class city will now get more HRA, then Y class and then Z class. According to Harishankar Tiwari, former president of AG Office Brotherhood, Allahabad and assistant general secretary of All India Audit and Accounts Association, the central government had changed the method of HRA after the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.

According to him, 3 categories – X, Y and Z were made for HRA. Under this, it was decided to give 24 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent HRA. It was also said that when the DA crosses the 25 per cent mark, it will be revised. Now DA has increased to 28 percent. According to Harishankar Tiwari, X is at the top in the category. It covers cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs. Central employees working here will now get 27% HRA. HRA will be 18 per cent in Y category cities. Whereas in the Z category, the HRA will be 9%.
