Bayern Munich’s biggest defeat in the German Cup, Gladbach beat 5-0

BERLIN: Mads Pedersen and Andre Hahn scored in the first half to give Augsburg a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the first half of the 12th round of the Bundesliga. Bayern made a strong start to the match on Friday night and had a chance to break the deadlock after seven minutes, but Omar Richards’ shot from inside the area was blocked. As the game clock went down, Augsburg reacted well to Bayern’s opening opportunity and built a well-positioned barrier.

Fügerstadter surprised Bayern with an opening goal in the 23rd minute, when Andy Zekiri’s excellent build-up and cross in the box allowed Pedersen to score the opening goal in the top right corner.

Bayern lacked accuracy in the final third, allowing Augsburg to make it two when Zekiri removed Marcel Sabitzer before feeding Hahn, who took a 2–0 lead in the 35th minute. After Robert Lewandowski took advantage of Thomas Müller’s back-heel lay-up, the German record champs reacted with fierce attacks and eventually reduced the lead three minutes later.
