The 2021 Force Gurkha SUV will be introduced next week. Force Motor has said that the Mahindra Thar competitor will be officially unveiled on September 15. The Force Gurkha, which is essentially an off-road SUV, was first seen in its facelift at the Greater Noida Auto Expo last year.
The pre-production model shown at the event hasn’t changed much in the 2021 Gurkha. It gets round shaped LED headlights with LED DRLs, a revised grille and front bumper, turn indicators located above the front fenders, a longer snorkel for smooth water-wading and a useful roof carrier.
The Force Gurkha is also expected to get redesigned taillights, new wheels and a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. A functioning roof carrier would also be one of the features. The cabin of the new generation Force Gurkha will be more luxurious than its predecessor. It will most likely be available with an all-black interior. However, a lot of sturdy plastic is expected to be used to make it more dust and water resistant for off-roading. The Gurkha is also expected to get a three-spoke steering wheel and a new touchscreen infotainment system. Molded floor mats are also likely to be installed inside the vehicle for lower NVH levels.
The 2021 Gurkha could come in two body sizes: two-door and five-door. Captain seats in the second row and jump seats at the rear can be added. The new Gurkha will be powered by a 2.6-litre diesel engine that produces 89 horsepower and 260 Nm of peak torque. The transmission of the SUV could be a 5-speed automatic.
The Mahindra Thar SUV, which was introduced on October 2 last year, will be up against the Force Gurkha in 2021. Unless additional models like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny are released in India, the Gurkha will have no direct competitor in this niche market. The price of the new Gurkha is likely to be in the range of ₹10 Lakh to ₹12 Lakh (ex-showroom).
