Jaipur: Rajasthan Govt. Recently approved a scheme to provide subsidy on the sale of electric vehicles, which is expected to definitely increase the sales of EV vehicles. It is aiming towards sustainability and from the point of view of environmental protection. Along with this, an additional budget provision of Rs 40 crore has also been approved for this. As per the proposal, the 2.5% GST currently payable in the state can be recharged on the sale of e-vehicles. Also, subsidy ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 will be provided on the sale of two wheelers depending on the battery capacity of 2 kW to 5 kW and Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for three wheelers depending on the battery capacity of 3. KW to 5 KW will be given.

According to the state government’s transport department, the government will reimburse the SGST (State Goods and Services Tax) amount on purchases on EVs. Lump sum grant amount will be payable on all electric two wheelers and three wheelers according to their battery capacity and this grant amount is payable on vehicles purchased from 1st April, 2021 to 31st March, 2022 and registered up to March. 2022.

As per the exemption given, the lowest incentive is on two-wheeler battery capacity up to 2 kWh with a grant of Rs 5,000. Three wheelers with a battery capacity of more than 5 kWh have the highest incentive with a subsidy of up to Rs 20,000. The slabs for incentives are split between two and three wheelers, and on the basis of per kWh battery capacity and range from Rs 5000 to Rs 20000. The incentives by the Rajasthan government are over and above the FAME 2 policy of the central government and buyers can take advantage of both the benefits to reduce the final cost of the electric vehicle.
