Chetak Electric’s retail touchpoints are now new cities. The firm has started registration for Chetak Electric in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Hyderabad. In Hyderabad, two dealerships have been assigned to Kukatpally and Kacheguda sites, while in Chennai, Chetak Electric dealerships have been assigned to Kolathur and Anna Salai locations.
Apart from Telangana and Tamil Nadu, the scooter is also available in Maharashtra and Karnataka, two other Indian states. The Pune-based automaker is rapidly expanding into the Indian market for its first ever battery-powered scooter. Bajaj plans to launch the scooter in 22 Indian cities by 2022. The Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is available in two different models: Urban and Premium. The Chetak Urban is priced at Rs 1.42 lakh, while the premium trim is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (both ex-showroom, Pune).
Powering the Chetak is a 3.8kW motor, which is powered by a non-removable 3kWh IP67 lithium-ion battery pack. In terms of performance, the scooter can reach a maximum speed of 70 kmph and has a full-charge range of 95 kms (in Eco mode). It can be charged at home using a standard 5A power outlet. Full LED illumination, lightweight switchgear, a Bluetooth-enabled instrument console, and smartphone app functionality are all included. The main competitors of the scooter are TVS iQube and Ather 450X battery powered scooters.
