Auto Update: In 2021, this became the most searched car in the world, surpassing BMW, Mercedes achieved number three

According to an annual report released by Australia’s ‘Compare the Market’, Toyota Motor topped the list of most searched vehicle brands overall, as it was the most searched manufacturer in 47 out of 154 countries, which was 31% of the sample. This was followed by BMW, which came in second as the most sought-after automobile brand in 29 regions, and Mercedes-Benz, which came in third.

For the past four years, the three carmakers mentioned above have been fiercely competitive in terms of dominating Google searches and being the most popular carmakers on the planet. BMW was the most popular automobile brand in 2019 across 118 countries, making it the most searched manufacturer.

Last year, Tesla became the most searched automobile brand in Hong Kong, Israel, Macao, Singapore and China, and therefore entered the charts for the first time. In Austria, Bahamas, Botswana, Congo Kinshasa, Croatia, Finland, Guinea, Iceland, Kuwait, Madagascar, Malta, Norway, Palestine, Rwanda, South Africa, South Korea, Syria, the United States and Yemen, it was second. Or the third most sought after car brand.

The fact that Tesla offered a variety of cars in 2021, including the Model S, Cybertruck, Model 3, Roadster and even Semi trucks, may have contributed to the company’s success last year. While interest in other automakers fluctuates from year to year, names like Audi, Hyundai and Suzuki appeared more frequently in Google searches last year than last year. Since 2018, Rolls-Royce and Mazda have been the most searched automakers in at least one country.

Brands such as Ford, Volvo, Nissan and Peugeot, for example, are losing interest across the nation in terms of Internet searches, with each brand’s rating dropping by at least three places. On the other hand, automobile brands such as Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Alfa Romeo and Daewoo did not emerge as the top search in any of the 154 countries surveyed.
