After 11% increase in July, Modi government again increased dearness allowance on ‘Diwali’

New Delhi: The Modi government at the Center has taken a big decision today for the employees and pensioners. It has been decided to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) for them as a Diwali gift. The cabinet meeting on Thursday approved a 3 per cent hike in dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners.

Another 3 per cent increase in DA means that dearness allowance (DA) will now be 31 per cent. More than 1 crore central government employees and pensioners will get the direct benefit of this increase. It is worth noting that in July this year itself, the government had increased the dearness allowance (DA hike) by 11 per cent to 28 per cent. Earlier DA was being given at the rate of 17 per cent.

Actually, the Ministry of Labor had released the data of the last three months of AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index). These include figures for June, July and August. The AICPI index has reached 123 points in August. This indicated that the government may increase the dearness allowance further. On this basis dearness allowance of central employees is decided.
